Mansion Kiara, Santorini, Greece

Mansion Kiara, Santorini, Greece (Night view)

This villa rental is located on the Grecian island Santorini with picturesque views of surrounding vineyards and other beautiful sites. The island has hundreds of villages perched on the edges of cliffs that each offer their own unique views. You can visit the Santorini Volcano and view some amazing frozen lava formations and maybe even see some steam rise from the rocks around the volcano. There are also several black sand beaches throughout the island’s coast. Cliff jumping is a common activity on the island for those who like adrenaline highs!

An interesting fact about the island is that it used to have a circular shape, but the island’s volcano had an eruption so strong that it caused the center of the island to sink. Some believe that this eruption was responsible for the extinction of  the Minoan Civilization of Crete Island, Greece. You know the story with the Minotaur and the labyrinth? Yeah, that civilization. The two islands are next to each other in the Aegean Sea, but they are separated by many miles. Of course this is just one (unproven) theory, and we may never know for sure.

Greece is full of fascinating myths. If you visit be sure to check them out! Each island and area in Greece is sure to have different tales to tell. Now on to details about this particular villa rental on Santorini island:

“The Mansion Kiara is situated on a quiet path in the quaint village of Megalochori.  At the turn of the century the Mansion was serving as a winery and cellar. The original structure has been sensitively renovated, and has been restored to its original splendour, retaining the original layout and traditional features. A barn-door leads you into the open-plan living space, affording a wonderful entertainment area. The smooth curves, alcoves and lighting of the minimalistic interior add to the unique atmosphere of staying there. An archway leads you into a corridor where the three bedrooms are. The comfortable master bedroom has a wonderful view to the pool and the colorful garden of the Mansion. The other two bedrooms are on the other side of the corridor. A large comfortable vanity bathroom with tub is also along this corridor to serve the bedrooms. The smooth-edged carved interior provides a cool and relaxing haven during the hot summer days.

In the large courtyard of the Mansion the guests can relax on the sun beds, swim in the pool or enjoy epicurean meals on the outdoors dining area, shaded by a wooden pergola. From the courtyard, stairs lead up to the terrace where you can enjoy the view of the vineyards and the sea on the distance. This Villa can accommodate up to 6 guests. Mansion Kiara provides a perfect base for those wanting to experience the many rhythms of the island.” [Greece Villa Rentals: Villa VMS KIA | 3BR Rental.]

I have been there about 5 years ago for a holiday/english cosrue in August. I have stayed close to St. Juliens; the area of St. Juliens was very lively with plenty of clubs for young people and language students but outside the main area it was all very quiet, in fact there was an horse in a field just opposite the house I was living in. That made it a bit unsafe because it was dark and my flatmate got the handbag snatched (so just be careful at night). The beaches were ok to get some sun and swim a bit but they weren’t the best. I have found a very good beach with christal clear waters and partially rocky called Paradise beach, and also in one of the islands i think it was Gozo there were no facilities at the beaches, just pure nature the islands are indeed pretty quiet. The temperature was very high, which I loved it, never seen a cloud, the water of the sea was very warm too and I didn’t need a towel after swimming as the sun dried me in 10 mins. The main colour of the landscapes was yellow and I thought the arabic influence was obvious pretty much everywhere. There will certainly be excursions to do, the hotel will be able to advise on that, or even offer and book. I remember I wanted to do an excursion on jeeps which unfortunately was fully booked, so I choosed a trip to Valletta and to another town (can’t remember the name), I didn’t have time to do an excursion to a cave in the sea which would have been interesting.I hope this helps!
